  • In tune with the prior posting on creating a revival of ‘passionate’ photography endeavors, I have decided to remove an archive of memories from the past two years and create a new narrative within the idle glory blog.

Over the past few years, a mentor and uncle-friend Rob, has led our photowalks and dimsum luncheons across the little city of Vancouver, wandering to and fro between North Vancouver to Richmond and other various locations ‘en medias res. These quiet field of ‘dreams photographs are from the Steveston Village Community in Richmond, a little harbour community that has a historical culture flavored from the harbour nearby and Japanese community present since the occupation of WWII. My camera was the diminutive Pentax Optio i-10 Pearl, a dear little fellow that I brought home with me from a trip to Portland, Oregon.

We found these unexpected paths weaving through the knee-high and singing melody of grasses in the wind, a harmony of sunlight filtering through a field of ripening grain in the summertime afternoon. There are other photos on my Lomo Fisheye 2 camera, for another day.

Lovely photos as always! A windy day for sure. I have a nice one of the soccer kite.
I like the photowalks and to see everyone’s results. I see a picture from someone else after the walk and think to myself, I was just standing right beside them and never saw that perspective. It’s quite refreshing and inspires me to try and take better photos (such as yours)

Thank you, Rob! I tend to rely on over-processing edits for my photography, though the incentive is to teach/reflect on a narrative :)
