  • The United States Senate are preparing to vote on the internet censorship bill known as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).

The proposed SOPA legislation will give the United States government and copyright holders the ability to censor and block any website deemed to be “associated” with infringing, counterfeiting or pirating intellectual property. In other words, websites like Google, Facebook and even ShogunGamer.com could be blocked and censored for linking to any intellectual property. While piracy is indeed an issue in the digital age, SOPA will create a corporate and government run “firewall” that will not just effect the United States, but the entire world operating on DNS based Internet (Translation: everyone).

Please take a moment of your time to watch this short video that explains the gravity of the situation. Below it, you will find a form that you can use to support the anti-SOPA movement. There’s options for US residents as well as non-US.

A large portion of the Internet has been blacked out today. Don’t let it stay dark forever.
