He had to be a genius or nothing, and since he couldn’t be creative he turned to bohemianism, eccentricity, social versatility, conquests. – Allen Ginsberg

A Meta and Music Parody of Gotye

First there was the Gotye song.
Then there was the Walk off the Earth cover.
And now there’s a parody of the ‘Cover’s music video!

“Somebody That I Used to Know” is a song by Belgian-Australian singer and songwriter Gotye from his third studio album Making Mirrors, and features New Zealand singer Kimbra. The song was written by Gotye himself, lyrically about the experiences he has had with relationships. The song was released on 6 July 2011 as the second and lead single off the album.(x)

Walk off the Earth is a Canadian indie band formed in 2006 in Burlington, Ontario. The band’s first success came from covering the songs of The Gregory Brothers. The video of their cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” featuring The Creepshow’s Sarah Blackwood became rapidly popular on YouTube in early 2012, gathering over 50 million views in a single month.
