The World of Oz

I haven’t read the Wizard of Oz series for over a year now, but when I saw this book filled with illustrations and film stills from the series at the thrift shop I knew that it must absolutely be mine! Browsing through pages and meeting the characters from the books printed over a century ago is like meeting an old friend again, an old childhood friend that I met in my early twenties as a university student. Watching the films as a precocious enfant terrible never really appealed to me, it was only after discovering the Gibson Girl -style of drawings that I began looking for children’s books written during the same era. Frank Baum was one of the authors that I ‘rediscovered’ on Wikipedia, and in discussion with Amber a few years ago.
