August 13, 2010. Art&Sole – Ayden Gallery – Vancouver . Art & Sole is a collaborative Art Shoe Project from PF Flyers and El Kartel that has been occurring in Vancouver for the past six years. I stopped by a show once back in ’06 and was unimpressed with this year’s artists collaborations. Click the photo to see the whole series.

Pecha Kucha 11
June 1st, 2010 § 0
Pecha Kucha Night, a viral event originated “as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.” Originated in Tokyo, the phrase has a different pronunciation and literally translates to “the sound of conversation.”

Despite being marketed as a part and package of VIDWEEK (Vancouver Interactive Digital Week), I was a little disappointed by the content of the ‘special edition feature’ of Living in the Real Virtual World. Tweets can be found here.
Vancouver 2010 Olympics Hockey Party

February 28, 2010. W2 Media – Granville – Vancouver. It was a crazy day. Mid-noon hockey game, flowing beer and banana-slice mix pancakes for hungry hipster kids in toques, gigantic dogs mucking about and after the crazy song-dance party where the CANUCKS SCORED 3-2 AND WE WON!

I don’t remember very much.
Anyways.
Running late due to suburbia timezones and family-filled transit cars, too many cameras packed away, misapprehensions of photowalk or photomeetup and additionally an rvsp guest list that attaches itself to my twitter handle instead of flickr.
Slider burgers included, lantern globe glasses of red and white wine, mixed with other appreciative alcoholic-beverages. Enjoyable mini bread buns placed accordingly next to a giant pot of butter (or was it cholesterol-safe margarine… ?), crispy ocotopi curled next to poked shrimps and fettuccine macaroni salads. Yum!

hot one inch action, collection #6
saturday night: sky train delays en route travellers from whalley, surrey-land. birthday boy and the sweets card, art relics, vinyl records and musical pins. jaunts to commercial drive JJ bean chai latte therapy and retro decade flashback, 50′s diner-style @ the templeton (tiki burgers and messy chompings) followed by hours dawdling at hot one inch action #6!
Interesting Vancouver
October 27th, 2009 § 0
Creativity and innovation happens in the margins, between the barriers of our spheres.
The overlap of these disciplines or in the face of the rules we impose on ourselves and society are the driving force of these shared evenings. Our different backgrounds encourages a different spark of a thought, or changes your worldview ever so slightly.
If you attend an evening with Interesting Vancouver, the only link between audience and presenter is their personal curiosity of the world and our curious attention. Follow the link to view my design notes.
