Those brief daily interludes: midterm anxiety and philosophical critical in-class essays..
By an en transit route downtown to burrard (with trusty philosophical heavy text-tote in hand), fresh wanderings and perspectives of the west hastings scenes and sounds.

Late afternoon chai latte, visitations to strutta and bootup laboratories, end la evening rain showers with pike place drinks at the unconventional pourhouse, a la gastown.

You know its summertime when..
the cherries are raining down from the trees, finding honeybees and butterflies in flowers, sightings of children dancing on sidewalks with popsicles, depletion of seashells while wandering the seashore, wind chimes singing in the breeze, real scents of fruit.. not artificial perfumes, floral print dresses and strangers in sunglasses.

Charting the stars across the night sky, strawbaskets and picnic travellers, berry harvests, lazy afternoons reading philosophy, mermaids and sea babies frolicking in the waves, balloons like escape artists in clouds, pink cotton candy messes and sticky fingers, intensely hot summer nights.

Sometimes I wonder if fishes wonder about us, those air-breathers who rumble over wooden planks that stretch across their watery skies. Do they feel the sunshine reaching to their submerged depths? Is the weather dictated by the current movement of the water?
The aquarium dwellers are only acquainted with humans as their benevolent god or goddess who brings them food and occasionally cleans their home, while those who travel between oceans and rivers watch the underside of ships as their ancestors have done for so many generations.
I wonder what secrets do those coral-dwellers keep to themselves as they watched the Titanic sink beneath the iceberg? But I would miss the starry skies if I left this world for a life under the sea.
I think it would fun, to learn scuba diving and search the sea-floors near home now that winter is arriving, and the silt has shifted elsewhere. My friend As. is near completion on his sea divers license and will someday observe rotting shipwrecks with his camera lenses. So much fun!

Oh sunshine in vancouver, how I have missed you
Today I organized my jewelry box; a pretty affair that consists of distangling rainbow strands of silver chains and hearts or beads and strings, matching missing earrings that frill at the top or dangle feathers below, trying on gemstones and iconic moody rings, and a fresh exclaim upon discovery of those sentimental memories I laid aside years ago.
Now everything is carefully sealed away in plastic bags or smaller jewelry jars for yet to wear hairstyle pieces.

I really do love autumn in Vancouver. There’s so many trees everywhere that when its windy, the leaves fly around everywhere and they scatter all over the sidewalk so when you’re walking home you purposely crunch them underfoot like potato chips. And the entire landscape is filled with bright and splashy or subdued and vivid colors that remind you of springtime.
Can’t wait until the appearance of pumpkins at Halloween

watching barbecue smoke rising from inbetween trees and rooftops
while walking my friend to the bus-stop
in sunny hot afternoons
while sprinklers are lapping water to thirsty lawns
and the cold nighttime chill is coming soon
pigeons are walking to and fro on railroad tracks, after the train is gone.
