PDX Traveller Day Two

May 10th, 2010 § 0

home sweet (away) home (by rocketcandy)

Sleeping in close-knit student spaces is relatively affordable and cozy, eliminating the need for excessive sundry items or furniture that just doesn’t ‘fit.’ Since I would be only staying a few days and purchasing quite a few items, I tried to keep my eco-footprint in my friend’s place as non-obstructive as possible.

The couch was a narrow fit, pillows were large and engulfing and the rest of the apartment was very organized and tidy. Unfortunately however, the neighbors one floor above decided to welcome my first morning in Portland by acting like bunnies. x_x

PDX Traveller Day One

Traveling via Amtrak is not recommended during day trips.

dawn riser (by rocketcandy)

Other freight cars hog the navigational route, faulty or missing equipment is a regular rule of thumb and more often as not there’s bound to be unsuspecting rail construction workers doing ‘maintenance’ while passengers are stranded outside of stations.

Estimated overall travel time: 8 hours.
Actual overall travel time: 10 hours.*grr*

Fortunately, it was still an epic adventure!

En Route to PDX

I’ve been planning this trip for several weeks now in secret since the 2010 winter olympics in vancouver, before breaking down and confessing for advice from fellow twitter-ers. There’s much to be said for an un-seasoned, youthful twenty-something about to battle inexperience for a bounty of explorer’s wisdom.

If you’d like to follow my traveller’s queries about foods, people, places and things you may follow me at my twitter account where I’ll be updating via text messaging and wifi spaces.

Seattle Bound

May 27th, 2009 § 0

hi my name is

A friend and I travelled together recently across the dividing border between Canada and the USA to the sunny harbour city of Seattle, in search of adventure in not so distant lands, awaiting photographic moments and delicious clam chowder.

Seattle is a different city from the hippie culture Vancouver home. Not only notorious for the resting place of suicidal Kurt Cobain and the previous headjammer days of indie rock concerts (now safely relocated to Montreal!), the shopping metro we explored and the harbourside of Elliot Bay was almost incomparable to the scenic pastoral landscapes from the highway bloodlines.
